Campaign  for Child Production in the South

Dr T.H.Chowdary*

Anticipating reduced proportion of the  States’ MPs in the Lok Sabha when the  next delimitation  is done,  political leaders in Andhra Pradesh and  Tamilnadu are urging people to have three or more children. One MP in AP has announced reward to parents who will have a third and more  children . The population in the   northern States, especially in the  Hindi speaking states has been increasing  while due to vigorous family planning, population growth has been checked in AP, Tamilnadu, Telangana ( and perhaps in Karnataka too) and Kerala.

(Stalin married in 1975 has one son, Udaynidhi b : 27-11-1977)

2. The  Chief Ministers of AP and Tamilnadu are  repeatedly and passionately urging people to have more children. But AP’s CM Sri Chandra Babu Naidu has only one son; his son, a minister in AP too has only one son.  Similarly, Stalin and son Udayanidhi, minister in Tamilnadu too have only one son.

3. It is obvious that the leaders wish to have a small family to  preserve  their wealth and position but want the  multitudes to have roe children to swell the voters.  The poor and not so well-to-do should  multiply to be voters.

4. The people will be looked after by direct bank transfers of money or otherwise pensioned as social welfare. In AP, there are  more than sixty five lakh pensioners. During YSRCP rule ( 2019-2024) in AP, 80% of families began receiving pensionary and other  benefits.

5. The leaders’ message and exhortation to the  people is: “We feed. You breed”.  Where will the money come to sustain the feeding programs?  The Union government has been giving  ten items of rations free to eighty crore people since  the  covid epidemic.  Some state governments have the assertion Our right to spend. Your (Union government) duty to fund.

6. Bharat has already the largest population in the world recently surpassing China .  The population increases; the area of the country does not increase. Political leaders  and parties seem to be interested in securing their power and prosperity  inciting the people to produce more children.  Some Muslim leaders are urging vote-jihad by their people to wrest Bharat for Islam by year 2047 !    Bharat seems to be dragged on to a perilous path of competitive child production for different ends!

7. Can Vikasit Bharat, so passionately sloganized by our dear Prime Minster be realized ,while competitive child production is encouraged for different objectives.

8.  Cannot leaders in the  South  think of an alternative scheme for their just repossession in the Parliament of the  Union of India , that is Bharat ? (430 words)
