State Funeral for the 8th Nizam

AIMIM – TRS (BRS) Alliance

Dr T H Chowdary*

The honour of state funeral  bestowed  on  Prince Mukharam Jah, the VIII Nizam is  most undeserved and is indicative of the  traditional collusion between the Muslim rulers of Hyderabad and the  currently ruling  social  class in Telangana from the  14th century.   Nizam’s rule was hated by the native  Hindus as it was exploitative  and suppressive of Hindus under the hegemony of  foreign origin Muslims who coopted  the local  converts as junior  partners. The  7th Nizam  wanted to be  an independent  sovereign Muslim King outside the  Indian Union when India became  free in Aug 1947.  Military action had to be taken in Sept 1948 by the  Indian  Union to liberate the Hyderabad  state’s people from the Nizams rule  backed by the fascist Razakars of  Majlis Ittehadul Muslameen (MIM) under the leadership of Kasim Razvi.  It was the  magnanimity of  Sardar Patel the Home Minister of India  that retained  the 7th Nizam Osman Ali Khan as Raja Pramukh  of the liberated and integrated state of Hyderabad .

2. The state funeral accorded by the present rulers of Telangana to the scion  of the foreign origin ruling dynasty is indicative  of the resurgence of the collaboration of the ruling social  class with  Muslims as during the Nizam’s rule.  Prince Mukharam Jah was dissolute;  he was involved in disputes with his four non-Indian  wives.   He had scant love for India.  He lived his last years not in native India  but in Turkiye, his mother’s country.  The  leadership of the  Bharata Rashtriya Samithi ( BRS) seems to cherish its undeclared , but increasingly evident comraderie with the  Kasim Razviist  AIMIM .

3. It is apt to recall  an episode involving the late Salahuddin Owaisi, the Chief of MIM , the father of Sri Asaduddin Owiasi, MP and  Sri P V Narasimha Rao when he was the  Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1972 . Sri Salahuddin Owaisi   gave a long memorandum listing many demands  to  Chief Minister, Sri   P V.Narasimha Rao . The CM went through it  several times and then   remarked, “ Salahuddin ji ! You are  such a great leader and a scholar . But you  have made one   serious omission  in the demands that you have listed”. Sri Owaisi  was taken aback and   asked Narasimha Rao  ji as to what was the omission . Narasimha Rao replied:  you have not   included the demand  for the restoration of the Nizam’s rule”!  There is  undeclared but widely believed alliance between the  AIMIM and TRS ( now BRS).

4.  Now it appears that it is    the  current AIMIM ‘s chief  Sri Asaduddin Owaisi who is  the strategist  for the  BRS and KCR and his party and  government.     More interesting things will be unfolding after the   recently held  Khammam convention  of the  BRS  on 18th  Jan 2023 which was attended by Modi’s  determined foes  -  Com. Pinarayi Vijayan of Kerala , Aravind Kejriwal of  Delhi and Bhagwant Singh Mann, CM  of  Punjab besides Samajwadi Party Chief   Akhilesh Yadav and CPI’s National Secretary D Raja.

5. It was Sri Asaduddin Owaisi who advised  Sri K. Chandrasekhara Rao and his party  to observe 17th Sept not as  liberation of Hyderabad Day but as  National Integration Day .  Sri Owaisi stated that the Central government  should be a weak one , formed by an alliance of regional parties.  Sri KCR collected leaders of some regional parties  at the  Khammam mega conference.

6. The Nizam’s rule had been an unmitigated  calamity  for  Hindus,  especially  during  Kasim Razvi’s  Presidency of the MIM.  Razvi roared and ranted  that  quite soon  the  Asaf Jahi  flag  would  flutter on the  Red Fort in Delhi. The poor man  did not realize his dream . But it appears  that  Sri KCR will  fulfil  Razvi’s dream by making his regional  party  the TRS    into the  all India  Bharat Rashtra Samithi ( BRS) and flying his flag in Delhi’s Red Fort. Sri Asaduddin  may also realise his wish of a weak central government  under the  leadership of  his ally  the BRS.

7. The non-celebration of the 74th Republic Day  in the traditional way due to the  BRS government’s non-involvement is ominous and reminds us  of the  7th Nizam, Osman Ali Khan’s declaration  of 6 June 1947, to be an independent king  outside the Indian  Union. May the BRS  not be the Trojan Horse  of AIMIM. ( 718 words)
