Re-Writing History Books Negationism    To Be  Removed And

Truthful Narration  To  Replace The False One

Dr T H Chowdary*

One of the greatest  harms done to the young in India when they are in schools is the  removal of history and substituting it by sociology.  Leftist, Marxist “secular “persons were engaged  to write  themes under sociology. What was written is  mostly to describe  Hindu society as caste-ridden Brahminical and exploitative and suppression of the lower castes. Another  message  is  that Islam is an egalitarian religion. And that the Muslim invaders -plunderers- ruler-settlers  had committed  no crimes against Hindus which Hindu king also have not committed  in some measure to people  of  other religions, especially Buddhism.  The desecration  and destruction of temples and zezia was rationalized. Our heroes like  Bappa  Rawal, Rana Pratap, Shivaji, Subhas Chandra Bose  etc,  were  dismissed in a few paragraphs and that too, in negative light. It requires  great effort to remove this negationism  and establish  the factual  history.

2. India is a  civilization state (China is the only other). It was earlier a cultural  nation. Sardar Patel   converted this cultural  nation into  nation state politically,  administratively and legally . It was the Sanatan Dharma and the culture derived from it  that has kept the Indian  people irrespective  of language  and region . So, the first thing that we have to do is to restore history as a subject.  From the primary to the SSC standard removing sociology but including social  items as part of history itself.

3. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan  produced  10 illustrated books under the Culture  Series. They are   good for  classes  I to X.   I suggest that whosoever  is examining this issue of re-writing history have   a look   at these 10 books  which are not  large in volume but very readable. Our cultural  history is told  in  stories from the  Ramayana and Mahabharata and such literature.  These should  be taught in classes I to X.

4. India’s constitution:

Following fundamental  features of the constitution must be included in every history book.

·         India is not a federation ; but us  Union of  States; States are created, boundaries altered, regrouped and divided  by the Parliament of India.

·         India’s Union Government is designed to be strong to override  any fissiparous   actions of the  states or any part of India . Articles - 3, 352, 356, 360 and their significance; that is the Union government can discipline the states; in the concurrent list of the Union and the States, the Union law will prevail on any  subject.

·         What should be changed in view of the developments since Independence; National Population Policy, National Water Grid,  connecting inter-state rivers and building National  Reservoirs from which States can draw waters , National Universities ,  abolition of Minority Commissions and Departments , prohibition of creation of minority districts , caste- wise welfare corporations,  hostels, schools (Grukulas)  etc.

5. India’s century’s long resistance to  Muslim conquests in India  :  Differences in the   conquests and consequences of  among native rulers and between the foreigners especially Muslim invaders and rulers on one hand and the native kings on the  other. Contrast Shivaji’s conquest   and non-conversion of defeated Muslims  with the  conversion and enslavement of the  defeated peoples by the Muslim conquerors.

6. Atrocities committed by   Md.Ghori, Aurangazeb , Delhi Sultanate, Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, Alladin Khalji, the Rajakars under Nizam.

7. Muslim backwardness in what respects and why and how  and since when and what should be done to overcome that one.

8. The contents of the  books ( Annexed) by the late Sri Sitaram Goel and Ram Swarup  published by Voice of India should be incorporated into history books in relevant places.

9. Warnings of History written by  Sri Kulapati K M Munshi  must also  be  the  contents of  the history  to be written.

10.  Contrast between the Imperial Cholas  and other Hindu kings rule over South East Asian territories ( Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Kampuchea, Vietnam…) and  the Muslim and the British rule in India.

11. The wonderful architecture and construction  engineering of  temples in South India under  the rule of the above dynasties.

12.  The great irrigation systems ( tanks and canals) in South India during the Kakatiya , Chola, Pandya and Vijayanagara rule.

13. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan published the history of India written in several volumes  by Dr R.C  Majumdar. Those volumes must be consulted for writing the new history books  .
