Hindu Muslim Unity ! - A Mirage
(Profound opinions / thoughts of some eminent persons)
Dr T.H.Chowdary*
1. Will Durant:
"The Mohamedan conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precarious thing, whose delicate complex of order and liberty, culture and peace may at any time be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within"
2. Sir Md Iqbal’s wrote Tarana -e-Hindi before 1906:
“Saare jahan se acha Hindusitan hamaaraa
Hindi hain ham, Hindi hai ham”
In this he hailed Rama as Imam-e-Hind .
In 1910, four years after the founding of the Muslim League in Dhaka in 1906, he wrote Tarana-e-milli :
“Chin-o-Arab hamaaraa, Hindusitan hamaaraa
Muslim hai ham, Muslim hai ham,
Vatan hai saaraa jaahaan hamaaraa”
3. Maulana Mohammed Ali & Gandhi ji:
During the Khilafat agitation (1919-22) to which Gandhiji committed the Congress , Maulana Md Ali the Khilafat leader hailed Gandhiji as brother and Mahatma. After the collapse of the Khilafat movement , the same Maulana Md Ali publicly and emphatically asserted in 1924, “However pure Mr. Gandhi’s character may be, he must appear to be from the point of view of religion inferior to any Musalaman, even though he be without character”.
Shocked newspapermen asked him weather he did really utter these words in Ajmeer. In Aminabad park Lucknow journalists asked him whether these words were true.
Yes! According to my religion and creed, I do hold an adulterous and a fallen Musalman to be better than Mr. Gandhi”
Md. Ali presided over the all India Congress session at Kakinada in 1923. He objected to vande mataram and when it was sung he walked away for half a kilometer to not hear it.
4. Md Ali Jinnah at Lahore session of the Musim League in March 1940 : The Hindus and Muslims belong to different religious philosophies, social customs an d literature. Indeed they belong to two different civilizations which are based mainly on conflicting ideas and conceptions.
To yoke together to such nations under a single state, one as a numerical minority and another as a majority must lead to growing discontent and final destruction of any fabric that may be so built up for the government of such a state.
5. Dr. Ambedkar : “I do not think the demand for Pakistan is the result of mere political distemper, which will pass away with the efflux of time. As I read the situation, it seems to me that it is a characteristic in the biological sense of the term which the Muslim body politic has developed in the same manner as an organism develops a characteristic. Whether it will survive or not, in the process of natural selection, must depend upon the forces that may become operative in the struggle for existence between Hindus and Musalmans. (P. 7, Introduction to Pakistan or The Partition of India: 1946) .
6. Annie Besant: After a study of some forty years and more of the great religions of the world, I find none so perfect none so scientific none so philosophical and none so spiritual than the great religion known by the name of Hinduism.
Make no mistake, without Hinduism, India has no future. Hinduism is the soil into which India’s roots are stuck and torn out of that she will inevitably wither as a tree torn out from its place. And if Hindus do not maintain Hinduism, who shall save it? If India’s own children do not cling to her faith, who shall guard it? India alone can save India and India and Hinduism are one.
7. Winston Churchill: If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
8. “Nationalist” Muslims:
8.1 No nationalist Muslim not even the most trumpeted of them , Maula Abul Kalam Azad visited Noakhali in East Bengal ( now Bangladesh) in 1946-47 when Hindu women were being raped, abducted and along with Hindu men were forcibly converted by local Muslims. Only Mahatma Gandhi toured in the area to console Hindus and entreat Muslims not to molest and torment and convert Hindus.
8.2 In 1990 -91 Kashmir Valley’s Hindu Pandits were set up on by their Muslim neighbours compelling them either to convert or be killed or flee to Hindustan leaving their women to be ravished converted or killed. No Muslim leader of J&K and no neighbour came to the Hindus’ rescue neither in J&K nor in the rest of India . No Muslim denounced the bestiality of Kashmir’s Muslims towards their fellow Hindu citizens.
9. In the events above the Muslims were just repeating Prophet Muhammad’s treatment of the Jewish tribes Banu Nadir , Banu Kanuka and Banu Koreiza in and around Madina as they did not agree to convert to Islam. In one orgy 800 Jewish men were decapitated , their bodies were thrown into the long trench got dug by the victims themselves, all under the prophet’s direction and supervision. Their women and children were enslaved, converted and used as concubines.
10. In 1921-22 Moplah Muslims in Kerala established a caliphate , set up on Hindus and gave them the standard treatment - rape, murder and forced conversion . Gandhiji did not condemn the Moplah’s vandalism and demoniac acts against Hindus. He described the Moplahs as “god-fearing” people and declared that “they are fighting for what they consider as religion and in a manner they consider as religious” .
11. Later when Swami Sraddhananda was assassinated by Abdul Rahseed Gandhiji called him a brother and blamed those who fanned hatred. Gandhiji objected to Rasheed’s hanging . Gandhiji’s assassin Nathuram Godse was hanged .
12. Where the Hindu is without fear
Where the Hindu is “Without Fear”
Where true history is told and every Hindu holds his head high
Where Bharat is not broken into Muslim and Christian districts
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where reason and inquiry are not silenced by terror of fanatics
Where treason and guilt don’t lead to insecurity
Into the heaven of freedom, honest endeavour and divine grace ,
My father ! let my country awake and march
(With apologies to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s, “Where the mind is without fear” )
