The Menace of AIMIM
Dr T.H.Chowdary*
During the Nizam’s rule there was the Majlis Ittehad-ul- Muslameen (MIM) which spawned the notorious Razakars under the leadership of the fascist Kasim Razvi . In June 1947 the MIM prevailed upon the Nizam to declare Hyderabad’s independence and not accede to India ( or
Pakistan) . Thanks to Sardar Patel’s determination and decisive Police Action ( Sept 13-17, 1948) the danger of the emergence of an Islamic state in the heart of India was nipped in the bud.
2. After the death of Sardar Patel, within 10 years of the Police Action in Sept 1948, the MIM was revived by the Razakarist Oweisis. This was with the patronage of the Congress which was wanting to build Muslims into a captive vote bank. The same MIM has been revitalized to become the All India Majlis Ithehad-ul Muslameen (AIMIM) under the notorious Oweisi brothers, the elder being an MP and the younger one is the Leader of the Opposition in the Telangana State Legislative Assembly. The AIMIM, not Congress is the second largest party in Telangana Assembly. The AIMIM under the elder Oweisi, the MP has been extending its activities all over India to emerge as the Muslim League of pre-1947. The AIMIM has been successfully extending its activities to other parts of India especially Maharashtra’s former Berar area centered around Aurangabad; Bihar, Bengal , UP and Karnataka . Along with the AIMIM, a number of other Islamist political parties have also emerged – the revived Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) operating in Kerala, the all India United Democratic Front of (AIUDF) of Maulana Azmal Badruddin in Assam; the Popular Front of India operating in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Delhi and UP.
3. That the AIMIM is achieving notable following is now proved in the recent elections to the Bihar’s State Legislative Assembly. The AIMIM won 5 MLA seats. It put up 20 candidates. These five MLAs had been brought to Hyderabad on 11th of Nov and feted and a resolve was made that all Muslims in India will be brought under one umbrella and establish the “minority” force as a challenge to the Indian Union. They are furiously trying to get the Dalits into their fold - an effort that could be traced to the 1920s itself. In that period, in the Nizam’s territory the Deendar and the MIM converted many Dalits into Islam and one of the Dalits was made a minister in the Razakar- sponsored cabinet of the Nizam. Now their talk is “minorities”(i.e Muslims) , SCs and STs to form a formidable political force in the country to seize power.
4. The Election Commission of India requires that all political parties intending to compete in elections must swear their allegiance to secularism . The AIMIM and IUMLs names themselves are expressive of the religious community they are composed of; namely Muslim. It is for consideration whether the IUML and the AIMIM should be de-recognized and banned as they are publicly professing to be the parties of people of a particular religion.
5. One grievous situation is that the regional parties are promoting the Islamist parties in their pursuit for power by getting Muslim votes. There is in fact competition between almost all parties expecting the BJP to support Muslims demands like governments paying Imams and Muezzins and construct Urdu Ghars and Shadi Khanas, Haj Houses and carve Muslim majority areas as separate districts. This bodes ill for the unity and integrity of India.
6. It is well to recall that one Prof. Amar Abbas had as long ago as in a Dec 2000 issue of the Marxist journal, Economic and Political Weekly argued for one more division of India to create Mugahlistna comprising the north-west part of Assam; northern part of Bengal; northern territories in Bihar , UP and Punjab so that the Mugahlistan is continuous with the Islamist state of Pakistan and Bangladesh. It would obviously be a client state of China just as Pakistan has already become. A nationalist party like the BJP and its idealogues must take notice of the fast growing Islamist political forces and furious growth in Muslim population which has already resulted in the Muslim population going up from 9.8% in 1951 to over 16% now and the political patronage to Muslims resulting in creation of Muslim majority districts (Malappuram in Kerala and Mewat in Haryana) and another 80 districts specially endowed with Muslim First development programs by the UPA government during 2004-‘14.
7. One immediate step that could be easily taken for arresting the growth of Muslim population as well as that of the rest is to make all welfare schemes inapplicable to all persons of any family irrespective of religion, which has more than two children. Another step is to make polygamy (like untouchability) criminal, The Islamist separatism and Muslimification of India, tukda by tukda (part by part) should be checked now.
"If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."
