States Patronage to Madrassas
T.H.Chowdary*
Under the notion that madrasas should be brought into the national scheme of education , the Sarva Sikhsa Abhiyan project has been funding some of these . In addition, states run by regional casteist parties fishing for minorities’, that is Muslim votes are funding all sorts of madrasas and also paying for Imams and muezzins in mosques. The expenditures on all these schemes is a sort of levy of zezia on Hindus who fill almost all the coffers of central and state governments. The madrasas are Islamic religious schools where the children are taught to recite the Koran in Arabic whether they understand it or not (it is like the Archakas in Hindu temples reciting the manthras or hymns in Sanskrit whether they understand, can explain or not).
2. Why should secular states fund any institution that teaches the scriptures of a particular religion? Besides, except getting by heart of Koran there is hardly any other learning which can be useful for making a respectable living.
3. In Telangana, there are 700 - 1000 madrasas. The School Education Department is supposed to be knowledgeable about these as it funds under the Sarva Siksha Abhyan some of them. Recently it was discovered that 16 madrasas funded by the Sarva Siksha Abhyan are ghosts; they exist only on paper and the money given to them had been guzzled by unscrupulous managers of these madrasas. How many more such gazzlers of tax monies of the secular state are there is yet to be ascertained. The position in AP cannot be very much different from what is now discovered in regard to these ghost madrasas in Telangana .
4. Sri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister is reported to have said that he would like to see a madrasa student with a Koran in one hand and a computer in another hand. In the 1940s Kasim Razvi, the leader of the Razakar goondas called upon the Muslims of Hyderabad to march to Red Fort in Delhi with Koran in one hand and a sword in the other hand. Now the sword is to be replaced by the computer as per the wish of the Prime Minister. Actually, without even Sri Modi’s wish this has already started happening . The jihadis are taking to information war using computers and software. They are using the information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the Internet. Face Book, and other electronic social media to hack the websites of governments, to spread the message of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, recruit jihadis and also arrange for the transfer of funds to them. What is the obligation of the secular state of India to foster Muslims with special schemes and organizations like Minority Commission, Minority Finance Corporation, funding Haj pilgrimage , Shadi Mubarak give aways , Urdu Ghars , Shadi Khanas , Muslism First programs in 92 districts identified by Js. Sachar Committee as Muslim intense areas ?
5. Madeleine Albright, the former Secretary of State of USA in her magnificent book, “The Mighty and the Almighty” has penned a record of her interview with the Saudi king who said that it was Saudi Arabia’s sacred duty to fund madrasas and mosques all over the world. That the instructions in the madrasas clearly divide humanity into the believers that is momins and kafirs that is, non-belivers non-muslims is very widely known. It is the fundamental ordinance in the Koran itself. Indeed, as brought out in the petition before the Calcutta High Court known as the famous Calcutta Koran Case, there are so many Ayats which preach violence and the elimination of non-believers. In madrasas in the USA the literature in Arabic truthfully reproduces the Koranic preachings while the English translations cover up, moderate or attenuate the hate and violence preaching Ayats . This was noticed by the government examiners and the madrasas ordered to expunge or attenuate them to be harmless; that is no promotion of violence towards and hatred for non-believers and the elimination of them by jihad.
6. India has paid very dearly by Nehruvian secularism which, in effect is anti-Hinduism and patronage to Muslims in all their desires and demands. The pronouncements of Azam Khan of the Samajwad party in UP and Asaduddin Oweisi of MIM of Hyderabad (the modern Md Ali Jinnah of Hyderabad) and even the views of persons like Salman Khurshid and Ghulam Nabi Azad who are the dominant voices and leaders of Sonia Congress all point to India’s Muslims reverting to pre-1947 two- nation theory with demands like reservations for them ( the ruling class for about 800 years in the country) and even proportional representation in legislatures and other representative bodies , a demand reminiscent of separate electorate for Muslims and that too weighted one ( 50% more than what the proportion of their population was during the British rule).
Nationalist NDA governments at the center and in the states should put an end to this undeserved preferential treatment of people of a particular religion, that is Islam at the cost of Hindus. (843 words)- END-
